Virginia Death Penalty
 Prior to 2001, the state of Virginia
executed more people than any other state except Texas. The entire Langley Hill
Friends Meeting community joined in support of a request for a complete
moratorium on executions. Langley Hill Friends Meeting joined with Virginians
against the Death Penalty (VADP) in their struggle to halt continuing
executions. Our meeting has hosted prayer vigils for individuals scheduled for
execution.
Although Virginia has not recently executed anyone, the law
permitting the state to do so remains in effect. We, along with VADP, continue
to seek get the law repealed. We continue to monitor the situation and continue
to speak our conscience on this issue.
